Testimonials
We could not be happier with our experience with Courtney. From the very first session, it was clear that she is a supportive and non-judgmental dog trainer. She took the time to listen to our issues and goals, as well as understand our lifestyle, and then tailored the training specifically to meet our needs.
Our dog, a 3-year-old reactive shepherd, had been a challenge for us. We felt lost and confused about how to help him, but Courtney provided us with the tools, resources, and unwavering support we needed. We have been sending our dog to her for day training sessions, and she always takes time to meet at the beginning to check in and at the end to discuss the day’s training, answer any questions, and ensure we are confident in continuing the training at home. In addition to all of that, she sends detailed emails with recaps and homework, which make it easy for us to stay on track and measure our progress.
Courtney stands out due to her exceptional dedication and willingness to go the extra mile. She is always willing to review videos of our training and provide valuable feedback or answer any questions if something comes up that we do not know how to navigate, ensuring that we are on the right path. It’s evident that she is truly in it to help strengthen the owner and dog relationship.
Thanks to Courtney, we now feel confident and capable of training our shepherd on our own, knowing we have her support and guidance whenever we need it. And, of course, we plan to continue working with her to further our learning, strengthen our bond with our dog, and give him the best life possible!

Courtney is amazing! She goes above and beyond caring for our German shepherd. Her facility is beautiful with amazing grounds and so much outdoor space. She gives our pup the very best care and I never have to worry while I’m away. I cannot recommend her enough!
– Client
I cannot recommend The Pawsitive Paw enough if you need help with your dog. Our rescue pup, Sookie, was so nervous and anxious that we questioned whether we could provide her with the home she deserved. In fact, it took over 6 months before Sookie would allow my husband to put a leash on her, and that is one of many examples. She could not be left alone, was afraid to go to the bathroom, and was sensitive to sounds and common things like statues in our neighborhood. Courtney assessed her, trained her, and most importantly, trained us. We developed a great relationship, and eventually hired Courtney to walk her daily while we worked. But Courtney didn’t just walk her, she trained her daily! Now Sookie has amazing leash skills, has learned to go to her place on command when overstimulated, and is honestly the best dog we could ask for. Courtney also stayed in our home when we traveled, allowing us to avoid boarding her. Let me also say this, our home was cleaner and in better shape when we returned from vacation than when we left! Sadly, we have moved from Oregon and have yet to find anyone who compares. Do not delay if you or your dog need guidance. This is professional skill building for a reasonable price. Sookie is grateful, and so are we!

About the Trainer
The Pawsitive Paw LLC is a dog training and boarding business based in Grants Pass, OR, led by Courtney, a trainer with extensive experience in veterinary clinics, shelters, daycare, and boarding. She offers holistic, relationship-based training that considers a dog’s genetics, purpose, and biological needs, focusing on creating calm, balanced dogs and strong owner-dog bonds. Services include in-person private lessons, day training, board and train programs, structured walks and hikes, and stress-free in-home boarding. Her approach is balanced, combining positive reinforcement with structured guidance, and she emphasizes behavior modification for reactivity, anxiety, fearfulness, and mild aggression. Boarding includes daily walks, obedience practice, enrichment activities, and optional add-on training. She provides email recaps, homework, and ongoing virtual support between sessions. Courtney uses her own dogs as demo animals to demonstrate training techniques and tailors all programs to individual dogs and lifestyles.
She does not offer group classes or in-home training, but provides facility-based sessions and day training programs. Her boarding is limited to ensure personalized care, and she accepts dogs with behavioral challenges with customized rates. She also offers puppy boarding and advanced training add-ons like e-collar conditioning and scent work.
Courtney’s philosophy centers on building trust, clarity, and confidence in dogs through real-life exposure, routine, and understanding canine drives. She supports clients beyond training with workshops, troubleshooting, and continued education.
Her services are designed for owners seeking long-term behavioral change and a deeper connection with their dogs, not quick fixes.
Accomplishments
Courtney has 9+ years of hands-on experience working with dogs in veterinary clinics, shelters, daycare, and training. She has successfully trained and rehabilitated reactive, fearful, and anxious dogs, including high-drive breeds like Malinois and Jack Russell Terriers. She uses her own dogs—Ryker, Buddy, and Auggie—as living examples of successful behavior modification and relationship-based training.
