The Wineglass Ranch offers comprehensive dog training programs, including Herding Training, Do-It-Yourself Guided Programs (Foundation Classes), Private Sessions, and Board and Train options.

Herding Training begins with an Instinct Test ($85) to assess a dog’s herding tendencies, followed by individualized Herding Lessons (30-45 minutes). Video Training and a Behavioral Tune-up add-on are also available.

The Do-It-Yourself Guided Programs include three levels of Foundation Classes, each costing $375. The Basic Foundation Class covers obedience (sit, down, come, heel, place), dog behavior, and psychology, with small class sizes and tailored advice. The Intermediate Foundation Class, for graduates of Basic or Board & Train, is an intensive program covering intermediate obedience, behavior, and specialized methods for serious issues, including safe socialization and real-world field trips. The Advanced Foundation Class builds on previous concepts, introducing the e-collar for off-leash reliability, covering its selection, fitting, operation, and application. All Foundation Classes require dogs to be 5 months or older, up-to-date on vaccines (Bordetella, Rabies, Distemper/Parvo), have a clear fecal test, and reactive dogs must wear an approved muzzle. One handler per dog, 18 years or older, is required.

Private Sessions consist of 5 in-home sessions for $1,600, addressing issues such as jumping, barking, digging, nipping, chewing, humping, counter surfing, crate training, potty training, leash pulling, reactivity, obedience, and mild aggression. Dogs with moderate to severe aggression are recommended for Board and Train programs for safety.

Board and Train programs are offered in the trainer’s home and are considered “Ultimate Programs.” The 7-Day Puppy Board & Train ($1495) focuses on potty training, crate introduction, sleeping through the night, and good manners. The 7-Day Board & Train ($1795) for dogs 16 weeks and older provides a jump start for ingrained patterns like barking, jumping, space invading, and food aggression, or for adolescent dogs, including a minimum of 28 training sessions. The 14-Day Board & Train ($3500) solidifies basic obedience and off-leash recall with a minimum of 56 training sessions. The 4-Week Board & Train ($4500) is designed for 100% off-leash obedience or mild to moderate behavioral issues like fear, anxiety, leash reactivity, or aggression. Individual Board & Train ($150/day) is available as a continuation or refresher for dogs that have completed a prior Board & Train program. All Board & Train programs include the dog being part of the trainer’s pack, a minimum of 4 one-on-one coaching sessions daily, a daily enrichment walk, work on core commands (Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, Come, Heel, Place), customization, a debrief and knowledge share at pick-up, fundamentals of their Canine Communication Code, and a Lifetime Guarantee.

Testimonials

“I struggled for months, trying to get my dog to listen to me. He would pull on the leash, bolt through doors, and invade my personal space. He was getting bigger and I was completely losing control. I mentioned this to a friend and they suggested I contact Victoria at the Canine Communication Center. Within a very short time, Harlow was actually waiting for me to tell him what to do. His attention was focused on me for a change. I was able to take him anywhere on a loose leash and he politely waited for me to go through the door first! I won’t wait so long to sign up for a program when I get my next puppy. She’s an amazing trainer and Harlow loves her!”

“I can’t thank you enough for all the guidance and support you’ve given to Ranger and me. I know it’s not rocket science but you’ve broken it down into manageable pieces and it’s not overwhelming. You are what I needed, what we needed and I thank you so much for taking the time and working with us. I have to say I feel like you’re a friend. I appreciate that more than you will know. I will fill out the review and Ranger and I will pose for a picture because I do believe you are a miracle worker and a dog whisperer. And you truly have brought a better quality of life to both of us. So from the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you.”
– Ranger and Wendy

“Our puppy class was an open relaxed atmosphere with breaks in training for off-leash play. Victoria’s attitude and kindness toward training the dog’s owners was amazing. She was always open and willing to problem solve any questions we had about what we were working on and her ability to demonstrate with our own dog to ensure we knew what to do was beyond helpful. Although it was great to be outside in an open space, Hilo had a much harder time demonstrating the skills he had mastered at home. Plus, Dave said the one drawback was that the ranch is The Wineglass Ranch, but we were never offered a glass of wine!”
– N and D with Hilo

About the Trainer

The Wineglass Ranch, also known as the Canine Communication Center, is owned by Victoria, who has been training dogs her entire life. The business has been operating since 1998, and Victoria has been raising and training working Border Collies for twenty years. They are lifetime members of the American Border Collie Association and the United States Border Collie Handler’s Association, supporting the preservation of working Border Collies.

The Wineglass Ranch offers customized practical dog training, blending traditional and positive reinforcement methods. They believe dogs need structure and boundaries to thrive, starting with praise and rewards, then gradually introducing boundaries and the word “No.” Their approach is described as balanced, adapting methods based on each dog’s unique personality and temperament.

They provide a variety of programs including herding training, puppy training, obedience, and behavior modification. Services are offered at their ranch facility, through in-home private sessions, and via board and train programs. They also offer scent/nose work classes, which are suitable for all dogs and build confidence.

A unique advantage is their “Lifetime Guarantee” for Board and Train programs, offering free aftercare support for as long as needed. They emphasize quality training, advising clients to invest in the right trainer from the start to avoid future problems.
