Experienced dock diving dogs can utilize the pool for practice and may receive advice from other participants or sign up for private lessons to perfect their skills. About the Trainer

Three Hounds Training Ground LLC is an indoor canine competition pool and training center located in Plymouth, WI. It features Wisconsin’s first indoor competition pool and dock, measuring 45′ x 21′ and 54″ deep, with an 8′ x 40′ dock. The facility is designed for competitive dock diving dogs and handlers of all levels, from those new to the sport to seasoned competitors.

Beyond competition, the center also offers a safe and stress-free environment for general dog exercise, helping with stiff joints, energy levels, and weight management. The owner and trainer, Becky Norlander, has extensive experience in dock diving, having competed with her dog Gryff in various events and achieving notable placements and personal bests. The business also plans to offer seminars on dog sports and training, puppy pool parties, private obedience lessons, scent games, and evaluations for various canine good citizen and trick dog titles.

Accomplishments

Becky Norlander and her dog Gryff started training in dock diving in 2015. In 2016, Gryff was a 5th place finalist in Dock Dogs Iron Dog. In 2017, Gryff received invites to Ultimate Air Games at Purina Farms, Dock Dogs World Championships, and the North American Diving Dogs National Championship in Orlando, FL. His personal bests include 27′ 6″ in distance, 7’10” in Extreme Vertical, 5.4 seconds in Speed Retrieve, 60′ in Catch-it, 6 seconds in Chase-it, and 21′ in Air Retrieve.

Becky’s other hounds, Fiona Skye, Truman (Tru), Gryffon (Gryff), Algarrobo, Max, “D” (Douglas), and Iago, compete in various sports including dock diving, barn hunt, CAT trials, FAST CAT, and Nosework. They are also starting agility classes and plan to try tracking. Iago is involved in SAR (Search and Rescue).

How to Get Started!

To begin, especially if your dog is new to water, it is recommended to sign up for a staff-assisted swim. Before your first visit, clients must complete and sign the liability and photo release waiver, and provide a copy of their dog’s current Rabies Vaccination, either by bringing it along or uploading it when scheduling.

Clients should arrive 5-10 minutes before their appointment to allow their dog a potty break. It is also advised to bring a change of clothes and shoes for yourself, toys and treats for your dog, towels for both you and your dog, and water shoes for yourself as you will be on the dock. Dog life vests are available on site, but adult life vests are not.
