Testimonials

When we got our new puppy I knew that I wanted to take him through a basic obedience course to learn the basics: walk without pulling, come when called, sit, down, stay, etc. 20 years ago I went through a course with my lab and he turned into an amazing dog after completing a 10 week course. As we started looking around the area we found Time4Obedience dog training and booked an initial “Puppy Consultation” and come to find out that this team trained under the same trainer that trained my lab 20+ years ago so I knew we’d found our match.

We took the 10-week novice obedience course that met on Saturday’s in Simi Valley. The entire team was great and very knowledgeable about handling and dog behavior. It is a big time commitment in that you basically are training 7 days a week for 10 weeks, but boy is it worth it. The difference in my dog is pretty astounding and it certainly sparked an interest in taking our training further (both handler and pup). I highly recommend the team at Time4Obedience they are very encouraging and take the time out to deal with each individual dog through the course.

Thanks to Jennifer, Cindy, Daphne and the rest of the crew!

I met Cindy back when we trained a dog through Dany Canino. We just took on two puppies this spring and I was so impressed with the results with Dany and Cindy years ago, I was happy to see that Cindy and Jennifer we keeping the program going.

My wife and I had Jennifer and Cindy over for Puppy training in home and then later took the 10 week training this summer. The 10 week class is commitment and work, but sticking with it and putting in the time is worth the work.

Today I had to take one of my dogs to the Vet. It was so nice to have a dog that could hold a down command in the waiting area with other dogs and cats around.

In the exam room, not only was my dog able to stand for exam on the table and not move around, but he was very calm and allowed the Vet to check his mouth, teeth, jaw, back, legs, ears, neck and feet with no fidgeting on the table. Having a very well behaved dog at the Vet was one of the benefits of the class.

Professional no non-sense instruction is very much appreciated. We can walking on the leash without pulling. My dogs stay at the front door when it is opened and dont bolt out, these are all great things we learned to do in class. I am still working with my dogs and look forward to taking more classes with Jennifer and Cindy.

Just one last word of encouragement. Stick with it till the end, you will be amazed at how much your dog’s behavior will change is such a short amount of time.

This past Saturday, Riley, my Labrador, and I became proud graduates of the Time 4 Obedience course. Yes, a 10 week course that is very methodical, providing us with all of the tools needed to have a well behaved and obedient dog. Jennifer, Cindy and Daphne were all great and a lot of fun! There were instructional videos and weekly skills demonstrations with our dogs on what they’ve learned. We are in the drivers seat, and they will work with you on tightening up techniques to get the very best from our fur babies. It was rewarding to watch our fun and supportive classmates on graduation day, with their dogs and appreciate how far we all had come!

I called several trainers to help me with my pooch. They were all great, but when I called time 4 obedience I was blown away by their philosophy. Jennifer took the time with me on the phone to answer all my questions. I really enjoyed the class setting because it forced my dog to behave in the presence of other canines and people. It’s hard work but the pay off is so sweet! I’ve grown a closer bond with my dog and am already signed up to do the second class. Thanks Cindy and Jennifer

Great program, great trainers, improvement has been greatly improved, and continues. This is more than just training but teaches you how to be one with your dog for a lifetime.

About the Trainer

Time 4 Obedience is a dog training business in Ventura County that teaches owners how to train their dogs using the Koehler method, which emphasizes reliability off-leash and obedience on the first command without using food rewards. They offer group classes, private lessons, puppy training, and advanced courses, all focused on building a respectful, well-mannered dog that behaves reliably in distracting environments. Their trainers—Jennifer de la Torre, Cindy Brevik, and Daphne Green—were trained under renowned dog trainer Dany Canino and have decades of combined experience in Koehler-based obedience training. They specialize in creating lifelong bonds between dogs and owners through consistent, structured training that includes homework and daily practice. They also offer Canine Good Citizen certification, therapy dog preparation, and ongoing “Tune-Up” classes for graduates.

Their training is conducted in public settings like parks to simulate real-world distractions, helping dogs remain calm and obedient around other animals, people, and noises. They strongly advocate for early socialization and proper breed selection, providing educational guidance to prospective dog owners. Their approach is non-food-based, relying on physical and verbal praise, and they train all dog sizes and breeds, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.

They also support therapy dog work, offering seminars and certification prep for dogs to visit libraries, hospitals, and senior facilities. Their success stories highlight dogs that can sit calmly at the vet, walk politely off-leash, and remain composed in high-distraction environments.

Time 4 Obedience is not a boarding or grooming service; they focus exclusively on obedience training and owner education.

Accomplishments

Cindy and Jennifer launched the business in 2012 after apprenticing with Dany. Their dogs have earned AKC Obedience and Rally titles, and have completed therapy work. Many students’ dogs have earned Canine Good Citizen certification.
