TK-9 Academy

TK-9 Academy’s training program is led by certified dog trainers who focus on building obedience through relationships. They offer various training options to suit different needs and personalities.

Group Classes emphasize a balanced relationship and clear communication, available in-person or online. Behavior Modification sessions are one-on-one to identify root causes of problematic behavior and correct them through nutrition, improved communication, or re-balancing the relationship.

Everything Puppy program reinforces desirable behavior in puppies up to six months old, including daycare specifically for puppies and Purely Positive Puppy Classes for basic behaviors and issues like potty training, jumping, and chewing. Board and Train Programs are available for puppies and dogs over 6 months, focusing on on-leash and off-leash behavior, with follow-up classes for owners. Potty training is also offered for dogs of any age. Private Training sessions are available for a more focused environment, flexible schedules, or concerns about group training. Dog Sports training, such as Rally and Agility, is offered to deepen the bond, build confidence, and reinforce training.

Pricing Summary

Daycare: First Day is $44 per day, Full Day is $44 per day. Day Board & Train and Daycare & Train prices are TBD.
Boarding: Standard rate is $69.50 per night. A nightly Peak Season surcharge is added during major holidays and local school breaks.
Grooming Services: Small Dog $80, Medium Dog $97.5, Large Dog $109.5, Extra Large Dog $157.
Training Classes: Beginner Rally $305.5, Basic Manners $305.5, Basic Obedience: Loose Leash Walking 101 $305.5, Intermediate Obedience: Beyond the Leash $305.5, Purely Positive Puppy $305.5.

Policies

For boarding, a Meet and Greet Day is required. They administer oral or topical medications if in the original prescribed container with the label. Owners must provide enough food in individual prepackaged containers or Ziplock bags, labeled with the pet’s name and measured by meal, or a $3 per day meal packaging fee (max $15 per stay) will apply. Canned food and meal toppers are accepted in original, labeled containers.

For daycare, a Meet and Greet Day is required, and each dog will be evaluated on their first day to ensure they are a good fit. A virtual report card is provided after the first day. All grooming guests are required to be up to date on key vaccinations.

TK-9 Academy provides dog boarding, daycare, and training services for pets in Elkridge, Columbia, Ellicott City, Baltimore, and surrounding areas. They are passionate about providing the best possible training and care for dogs.

The academy offers expert group and individual training in oversized rooms, working with dogs of all ages and behavior styles, including “difficult” dogs turned down elsewhere. They also provide large boarding kennels with ample space for relaxation and supervised play, along with outstanding daycare that includes a special playroom for puppies.

Their promise is to guide every dog and owner into a fulfilling lifetime relationship. The facility was founded in 2007, with the Ellicott City location opening in 2010 and the Elkridge location in 2014. Their trainers and dog care specialists have several decades of combined experience.

Accomplishments

William Hendrix, the Training Director, began his internship at Tecla’s K-9 Academy in March 2015 and has been working as a trainer for over 4 years, accumulating over 6,000 training hours at TK9.

Cathy Ferguson, the Agility Instructor, has been training dogs with their owners for over 10 years at TK-9. She and her dog competed in Rally and earned Arch, Arch X, Arch EX, and Arch MX titles. Cathy is also an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and teaches Puppy, Manners, and Obedience classes in addition to agility.

To get started with boarding or daycare, a Meet and Greet Day is required for your dog. For training, you can book a free Training Evaluation. You can also call them to learn more or schedule services.
