Testimonials

Great people. Great trials! We drive from Columbus for every trial! Plenty of grass to walk in and a large parking lot with some shaded spots. Not much crating inside but there is enough for a fair number of dogs (just close together).

About the Trainer

The Toledo Kennel Club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible dog ownership and purebred dog welfare through training, education, and AKC-sanctioned events. They offer group training classes in obedience, rally, conformation, agility, and trick training, all held at their facility. Classes are structured in 6-week sessions and cater to all levels—from puppy socialization to advanced competition preparation. Instructors are experienced handlers with AKC titles and backgrounds in multiple disciplines, including CGC evaluation and competition. The club also provides open practice times on Sundays and Wednesdays for members and non-members to train independently. Their conformation class is offered as a drop-in service with expert handlers. The facility supports AKC trials and shows, making it a one-stop hub for training and competition. They emphasize positive, skill-based training methods aligned with AKC standards.

The club welcomes all dog types and ages, with classes designed for puppies, adolescents, and adults. They do not offer in-home, board-and-train, or day-training services, but their facility-based group classes provide structured, peer-supported learning. Members and non-members can access open practice areas with equipment for agility, obedience, and rally training.

Additional services include hosting AKC events like all-breed shows, scent work trials, and obedience rallies. They also offer seminars and health clinics, reinforcing their role as a community educational resource for dog owners.

Accomplishments

Board members hold multiple AKC titles including CDX, BN, GN, RAE2, FDC, ACT2, CGCA, CGCU, TKI, C-ATCH 2, and Champions in Conformation. Instructors have decades of combined experience in obedience, rally, agility, and conformation. Penny Dreps is an AKC CGC Evaluator. The club has hosted AKC events for many years and is chartered under AKC rules.

How to Get Started!

Prospective clients must register online via the provided JotForm link or email the Obedience Director to enroll in classes. Conformation drop-ins require no registration. New students should review class prerequisites and schedule before registering.
