After a year and a half I can honestly say that Top Hat and Tails has been an absolutely wonderful experience. The owner/trainer is always super professional, knowledgeable, and very positive in all situations. The prices are extremely competitive. My Shetland Sheepdog earned his AKC Good Citizen there and absolutely loves the agility course. It’s such a warm and friendly environment and it makes both owners and dogs feel at ease. The owner/trainer has won multiple national awards and is, by a wide margin, the most knowledgeable trainer in the Mishawaka/ South Bend area. My only regret is I can’t give Top Hat and Tails more stars!

She’s wonderful! Took my dog there for agility. Worked wonders for his confidence. I’d love to return one day. Finances took a dive and had to stop going. He’s fearful of a lot (people, objects, etc) and she was awesome with him.

Top Hat & Tails Canine Training is an independently owned and operated dog training school with over 15 years of experience, founded by Antoinette Krafcheck, a lifelong dog owner and champion Bearded Collie handler. The business offers a “PAWSitive” approach to training with programs in basic manners, puppy socialization, agility, Rally, behavior problem solving, and Canine Good Citizen testing. Classes are available in group, semi-private, and private formats, with options for daytime, evening, and Saturday sessions, as well as in-home training. The facility features a state-of-the-art training surface and competition-grade equipment. Antoinette integrates her background in marriage and family therapy, broadcast journalism, and behavioral science to help families build strong, positive relationships with their dogs.
The “Little Rascals” puppy program focuses on socialization, confidence-building, and early obedience through play and structured learning. Informal play sessions provide safe socialization opportunities for spirited dogs. All new students must complete a private consultation session before enrolling in any program.
Accomplishments
Antoinette Krafcheck has owned, trained, and handled champion Bearded Collies for over 30 years, earning numerous titles in agility, obedience, conformation, and herding. Two of her dogs have earned the prestigious Versatility and Versatility Excellent titles. She holds an MA in marriage and family therapy and has worked as a broadcast journalist, public relations professional, and college instructor.
