Classes are held Monday through Wednesday evenings, with occasional day classes. Each class is 45 minutes long, and each session runs for 8 weeks. Dogs must be kept on a leash and under control.
Sick or “in season” dogs should not attend. One family member should work the dog in class, and small children are allowed to watch quietly but not on the training floor. Success depends on consistent practice at home, with at least two 10-15 minute training sessions per day recommended.

About the Trainer
Town & Country Kennel Club of McLean County (TCKC) is one of McLean County’s oldest dog obedience training clubs. They are a nonprofit organization staffed by experienced volunteers. TCKC offers training for you and your canine from eight weeks of age and beyond, providing techniques to help train dogs to be outstanding home companions, obedience competitors, and rally and agility teammates.
They use positive reinforcement training techniques to forge a strong working relationship with dogs. TCKC is located at 2507 Fox Creek Road, Bloomington, IL, in a modern 8,900 square foot, air-conditioned training facility. They serve people from all walks of life, from those wanting a well-mannered pet to those desiring a more competitive obedience, rally, agility, or conformation experience.
Their trainers must complete an apprentice program under the guidance of experienced trainers and are responsible for teaching instructor trainees, supporting the 4-H program, maintaining the curriculum, and continuing their education. TCKC also performs evaluations for dog/handler teams wishing to participate in therapy dog activities.
