Treasure Coast Kennel Club

The Treasure Coast Kennel Club offers a variety of classes to club members and the public, emphasizing education for both beginners and experienced individuals in the dog arena. They believe in training dogs to become better family members. Classes offered include Obedience, Rally, Fit Dog, Conformation/Handling, Introduction to Agility, and AKC Fetch. The club also hosts various AKC performance events such as Agility Trials, All Breed Shows, NADD Dock Diving, Farm Dog Tests, AKC CAT, Fast CAT, and Up Dog events.

Policies

The Treasure Coast Kennel Club has TCKC Class Policies and a TCKC Aggressive Dog Policy. All members are required to subscribe to the TCKC Code of Ethics, which promotes the highest standards among breeders, owners, and fanciers, and emphasizes responsible canine ownership, proper veterinary care, and adherence to AKC rules and good sportsmanship. Failure to abide by the Code of Ethics can result in expulsion from the club.

The Treasure Coast Kennel Club is a welfare organization dedicated to dog showing, breeding, and training. It is comprised of friendly dog people, including both beginners and experienced “pros,” who share common interests in raising, training, and competing with dogs. As an associate member of the American Kennel Club (AKC), the club supports responsible breeders of purebred dogs. Their philosophy emphasizes education, volunteering, and good sportsmanship.

The club serves members from Indian River, St Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties. They support youth through Junior Showmanship Courses and host the Star Bright 4H Obedience club meetings. They also partner with local Humane Societies to demonstrate responsible dog ownership, training, and how working with rescues, including altered mixed-breed dogs, can enhance life.

Accomplishments

The Treasure Coast Kennel Club is an associate member of the American Kennel Club. The club started in the late 1960s and has been enriching the lives of dog owners for over 40 years. They continue the tradition of supporting youth through Junior Showmanship Courses and host the Star Bright 4H Obedience club meetings.

How to Get Started!

Individuals interested in joining the Treasure Coast Kennel Club can apply for a non-voting membership, which provides access to all club canine events and activities. To become a voting member, a prerequisite of being a non-voting member for a minimum of one year, in addition to certain required club participation, is necessary.
