Testimonials

Liz is fantastic. She makes both the dogs and their owners feel comfortable and capable.
Whatever you and your dog need, she can help.
– Client

If you are in need of any dog training and live within reasonable driving distance, definitely check out Tree Frog Farm! Liz is really calm and offers a great environment for helping train your dog. We attended one of the 7-week spring puppy classes and we are so happy we did so! It was helpful for our little pup to meet other dogs in a safe environment, and for her to learn some proper canine behavior. More importantly, Liz taught us as the dog owners how to work with our pup and feel more confident in training her. Liz was a great resource for answering questions and also connecting us with other owners who might be interested in play dates with our small-breed pup. I am already looking into other classes to continue our dog’s training!
– Client

This rating is long overdue. We have had several private training sessions with Liz over the years. Years (and dogs) later, we still use and value her tips. She helped us refocus our leash reactive dog with simple adjustments, and she introduced training tools and fun, stimulating exercises to engage our deaf dog who had mobility issues. He LOVED the “game of cones.” We highly, highly recommend her.

About the Trainer

Tree Frog Farm Dog Training is a facility-based dog training business located in North Yarmouth, Maine, led by Liz Langham, a certified trainer with over 25 years of experience. They specialize in reward-based training that emphasizes building a strong relationship between dog and owner, focusing on understanding canine communication, safety, and individualized approaches. Services include private lessons, group classes for puppies and family dogs, behavior consultations for fear, reactivity, and aggression, confidence-building programs, and dog agility training. They also offer distance learning via video calls for clients nationwide. Their unique advantage lies in Liz’s extensive background in animal science and qualitative sociology, combined with hands-on experience working with rescue dogs and conducting behavior evaluations for shelters. The facility is set in a natural, wildlife-friendly environment, and training sessions often incorporate play, environmental enrichment, and real-world exposure. They do not offer boarding or day training but provide in-person and virtual options tailored to busy families, reactive dogs, and new adopters.

They prioritize prevention and alternative behaviors over punishment, using auditory markers and rewards such as food, play, and access to resources. Their “Charm School for Dogs” and “Confident Canine” programs are designed for dogs with prior training experience, while their hybrid classes combine group instruction with private sessions for personalized progress. They also offer pre-puppy consultations and evaluations for dogs with questionable behaviors.

Liz’s training philosophy centers on making learning fun, relaxing, and effective, with a strong emphasis on the emotional well-being of both dog and owner. Clients appreciate her calm demeanor, deep knowledge, and ability to bridge communication gaps between humans and dogs.

Tree Frog Farm also supports wildlife conservation and occasionally incorporates nature observation into training sessions, creating a unique, holistic training environment.
