Testimonials
Steve and his wife are so sweet ! They truly love dogs. My French Bulldog is able to do all of her commands. I will most likely need more off lease training in the future after we continue to practice these ones . You even have a follow up, although I haven’t had mine because the weather is so hot it’s not safe for her to be out in 110 degree weather with her short nose. Her safety is their first concern.! So thankful for them that they took good care of my baby. Even when she had a tummy ache they had given her some pepto to help ease it. She also got lots of belly rubs after completing her commands. She loved them and I can’t wait for her to see them again.

Can’t recommend Steve enough. He has been wonderful to work with and we are very thankful for his training expertise and love of dogs. Our dog is much improved! Highly recommend!

I took my dog Barkley to Tucson K-9 last May and I am so happy I did. My dog is very high energy and I had difficulty getting him to calm down and listen to commands. After going to Steve I am able to get him to focus just by saying “no”. He still tries to pull while he’s on a leash but as soon as I correct him he falls back and walks in line with me. He also learned the commands sit and place. Simple things such as these have dramatically improved my relationship with my dog and I am so thankful! Thanks to the snake aversion training he steers clear of anything snake shaped.

About the Trainer
Tucson K-9 Learning Center is a dog training facility located on a 5-acre ranch in Southwest Tucson, offering intensive board-and-train programs focused on basic obedience, behavior modification, and specialized training like rattlesnake avoidance. Their method is modeled after military dog training at Lackland Air Force Base and does not use treats, clickers, or e-collars—instead relying on physical and verbal praise. They train a maximum of 8 dogs at a time in a climate-controlled, camera-monitored kennel with supervised play sessions three times daily. The center provides a range of services including puppy development, service dog training, therapy dog training, scent detection, protection training, and advanced obedience. Clients receive three private follow-up instruction sessions after their dog’s boarding period to reinforce training. All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations, and aggressive dogs incur an additional $200 fee.
The facility is run by Steve Reaves, a Certified Master Dog Trainer with over 60 years of experience since 1964, and holds licenses as a Wildlife Service Provider and Registered Veterinary Technician. They offer a Holiday Special: a 2-week board-and-train package for $1,450, which includes rattlesnake avoidance training and follow-up sessions. Their programs are designed for dogs of all ages and sizes, with a strong emphasis on safety, consistency, and long-term retention.
Additional services include annual re-checks for rattlesnake avoidance training at $100 per session, and they prioritize dog safety in extreme heat, adjusting outdoor activities accordingly.
