TDTC offers group training classes in obedience, agility, rally, scent work, and tricks, ranging from puppy kindergarten to advanced competitive levels. Classes typically run for 10 weeks for obedience (Beginners, Advanced) and 8 weeks for Puppy classes, each lasting one hour.
Puppy classes provide tips on housebreaking, crate training, stopping biting and chewing, grooming, and basic obedience. Beginner Obedience focuses on teaching fundamental behaviors such as loose leash walking, sit, lie down, coming when called, sitting for examination, and staying in various positions. This course prepares dogs for Novice I. Advanced Obedience classes, including Novice I, Novice II, Open, Rally, Utility, Scent Work, Tricks, and Fit Dog, emphasize preparation for AKC and UKC competitions, off-lead work, and specialized skills like dumbbell retrieves and scent discrimination.
A one-hour orientation without dogs is held at the start of the Beginners Obedience session. All classes utilize positive reinforcement methods. Dogs are evaluated at the end of the Beginners course and receive a certificate upon graduation.

About the Trainer
The Tulsa Dog Training Club, Inc. (TDTC) was established in 1947, making it the oldest obedience training club in Oklahoma. All members volunteer their services without remuneration, working together to provide various dog training services and promote sportsmanship.
TDTC offers group classes in obedience, agility, rally, scent work, and tricks, catering to all levels from puppy kindergarten to advanced competitive training. They also host obedience and agility trials and support the Paw Pals therapy group, which facilitates visits by members and their “Canine Good Citizens” to local nursing homes, assisted living centers, children’s hospitals, and group homes.
The club operates from a 12,000 square foot air-conditioned facility with ample paved, lighted parking and a fully fenced outdoor area. TDTC emphasizes positive training methods, utilizing treats, toys, and verbal praise as rewards. They welcome all dog owners, whether their goals are competitive sports or simply enhancing their dog’s manners and bond.
