Urban K-9 Dog Training offers a range of programs tailored to specific needs. Behavior Training involves private, in-home lessons where a customized program is created after an initial consultation, addressing issues like separation anxiety, leash reactivity, resource guarding, excessive barking, housebreaking, and leash pulling.

The Board and Train program is an intensive 2-4 week option where dogs live with a trainer and receive daily training and socialization. This program is available to clients who have completed a training package and is not suitable for dogs with human or dog aggression or separation anxiety. Owners receive videos and updates during their dog’s stay, along with a video and follow-up sessions to ensure training transfer.

Day School provides training for dogs while owners are at work, with a trainer working with the dog for one hour per day, 3-5 times per week, in the home environment. This program includes 10 lessons with the trainer and dog, plus 3 owner follow-up lessons, with sessions filmed for owner reference.

Group Classes are offered for Reliable Recall (for dogs 5 months and older), Puppy Class (for puppies 4-6 months old), and Basic Obedience (for dogs 6 months and older). These classes focus on fundamental behaviors and manners using reward markers, food, toys, and games.

Online/Virtual Training provides live virtual lessons via FaceTime or Zoom, serving as a supplement to other programs or for general puppy questions, housebreaking, and crate training advice. Puppy Training focuses on foundational skills from the first day a puppy comes home, covering crate training, housebreaking, nipping/biting, and basic manners, with private lessons and encouragement for puppy class attendance.

Testimonials

“Dani is an excellent trainer with a deeply intuitive sense of the relationship between owner and dog. She’s able to progressively build on small success after small success in the training process until you’ve arrived at an excellently trained dog. I highly recommend her.”
– Zach Rockhill & Rosie

“With our puppy, Dani was the perfect balance of kind and firm. More notable, however, is [her] ability to train people to care for dogs. Upon adopting Edie, we were utterly overwhelmed. With Dani’s cultivation we became confident, calm, and consistent dog handlers.”
– Emily Knowlton & Edie

“When our rescue dog arrived in Brooklyn he was scared of everything. Working with Dani gave him the confidence he needed to become a happy dog and a wonderful pet. She even taught us some fun tricks that he still enjoys when he wants to show off.”
– Laura Shackelford, Jonathan Roberts, & Blue
