Testimonials

“Hi Scott! I just wanted to let you know that thanks to your help, Trixie and Mina can be completely free around each other without any issues. Now they can be fully free in the house without us having to watch like hawks and they hang out in the same room regularly. They can even go outside without us having to watch the whole time, and they can pass in a doorway or be in the hall without a problem. We couldn’t have done it without support and guidance (and the reminder to be patient because it takes time), so thank you so much! Best, Nan and Sean ”
– Nan K., Dallas, Texas

“Good morning! This is Blossom’s person. I just wanted to let you know that she’s doing well! I got a Roomba, and I was expecting to introduce it slowly with lots of praise – she didn’t even flinch! I’m so proud of her. She has five people she likes now! Thank You!”
– Kathryn N., Dallas, Texas

“Thanks, Scott! We appreciate you, Barbara, and your guidance so much. I feel relieved that at least she has a chance to live a more calm life – the life she deserves to live! I truly think you are a rock star! Lee and I were discussing you this morning and saying how much we loved working with you and how amazing we think you are! I suspect we may be back for a refresher at some point. Until then, I’ll keep you posted on how Libby is doing. Thank you again! Jack and I are so grateful (Libby too!).”
– Carla C., Highland Park, Texas

About the Trainer

USA Dog Behavior, LLC is a dog behavior consulting business led by Scott Sheaffer, a certified dog behavior consultant and behaviorist, and Barbara Sheaffer, a dog behavior specialist. They specialize in assessing and treating behavior problems in dogs six months and older.

Their services include private consultations, both in-person at their Dallas, Texas location and online for clients everywhere. Scott personally works with clients and their dogs throughout all sessions, focusing primarily on training the dog owner.

Scott has developed unique behavior modification techniques such as FRED™ (Functional Reactivity Exercise for Dogs), the Looping™ protocol, the Clipper Leash™, and PED™ (Parkour Exercises for Dogs). They exclusively use positive reinforcement-based approaches, avoiding punitive tools like shock, prong, or choke collars.

In addition to client sessions, Scott conducts workshops for dog shelters, rescue organizations, dog clubs, municipal animal services, and dog training facilities. He also serves as an expert witness for dog bite cases and contributes to magazines, newspapers, podcasts, and blogs.

Barbara Sheaffer handles hands-on treatment with clients’ dogs and serves as the primary contact for clients, veterinarians, rescue organizations, and dog training schools. They work closely with veterinarians, often receiving referrals and collaborating on treatment plans that may include medication.

How to Get Started!

To begin, clients engage in an information-gathering phone conversation to discuss their dog’s specific needs. Following this, the first session is scheduled, which is a chargeable assessment lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. During this initial session, Scott completes an in-depth evaluation and prognosis of the dog’s behavioral issues and creates a tailored written treatment plan to guide future sessions.
