Vinwood Kennels offers comprehensive retriever training programs designed to take dogs “From the Nest to the Nationals.” Training services are available for Field Trials and Hunt Tests, including handling and preparation for Open & Derby Nationals.

Danny Farmer provides training services for Field Trials and Hunt Tests, including handling for Field Trials and the Open & Derby Nationals, and preparing amateurs for Pre-National Training. His methods are proven for success and are based on the teachings of Rex Carr.

Danny Farmer has a lifelong passion for dog training, having started full-time in the late 1970s. He has achieved significant accomplishments in the field, including multiple National Open victories and training over 90 Field Champions.

Accomplishments

Danny Farmer was inducted into the Retriever Hall of Fame in 2011. He holds the record for the most National Finalists ever and has trained almost twice the number of Field Champions than anyone in history, with over 90 Field Champions to his credit.

He has competed in every National Open since 1981, averaging 5 qualified dogs per year and tying the record with 9 qualifiers in a single year. Danny won the National Open in 1989, 1995, and 2001. Additionally, two of his clients have also won National Opens. He holds the record for winning more Opens than any other professional handler, including an impressive 18 Opens in a row. He has also had the High Point Open Dog twice, finished National Open with 4 dogs twice, and holds the record for the High-Point male Derby dog.
