Advanced Training covers trained retrieve (force fetch), whoa posting, steadiness, and water work. All training is based on the Rick and Ronny Smith Hunt Smith Silent Command System.

Pricing Summary

Boarding services are available at $35 per day, requiring proof of vaccination. The 2-week Puppy Introduction Training program, which includes boarding, costs $700. Advanced Training is priced at $350 per week, also with boarding included. Puppies from their breeding program are priced at $2,500 and require a $300 non-refundable deposit.

All puppies are placed exclusively in hunting homes, and the kennel emphasizes that puppies are “placed not picked,” as they observe personalities over 8-10 weeks to ensure the best match for both the dog and the owner.

“I had Darwin Paddock train my female Drahthaar (call name Gyp) for hunting (search & retrieve – upland & waterfowl) as well as for the VDD-GNA VJP, HZP & Armbruster tests. Dar did a fantastic job preparing Gyp, culminating in a tie for 5th place (over 60 entrants) in the Armbruster. Gyp actually was just a couple points shy of first and with a little bit of luck, 1st was entirely possible. I’d say the ideal trainer is one with patience. So many trainers are heavy with brute force or heavy e-collar use. Dar has really great patience. Honestly all dogs are going to present some unique wrinkle or issue. Being able to patiently work through challenges is BIG, as far as I’m concerned. Dar’s patience shows in Gyp! Of course Dar does use the E-Collar and every go-getter dog is going to need to have that long distance control. But you can tell Gyp’s foundation is not negative reinforcement. Bottom line, I’d say Dar Paddock is a great trainer and takes good care of his clients (man & beast). Not surprising, a successful trainer has great support (staff or family). Dar’s wonderful wife Sara, treats every dog they take on at least as well as their own, if not better. 5 stars out of 5 for Dar & Sara Paddock!”
