Wag an’ train is a must for any pet owner who loves their pet(s) and desires to live in harmony with them. Mr. Heinz is a phenomenal trainer who is well educated, experienced, and executes his plan of positive reinforcement with diligence. The level of communication and understanding of our dog and ourselves were simple yet profound and gave my family the confidence and zeal to create a greater home with positive reinforcement. The practical knowledge we received from Mr. Heinz has been priceless and continues to create a sincere sense of appreciation and love for our Nala. We highly recommend and commend Mr. Heinz for a job well done. Thank you Sir and keep making tails wag!

Heinz is absolutely amazing – a true dog whisperer! I hired him before I got my new puppy, which ended up being such a great idea. He came over to start training US (Lol) before our puppy arrived. He gave us some great guidelines to follow. Then we had another 5 or 6 sessions in her first 3 weeks with us. He gave me so many great tips and tricks – the best one was about how important it was to socialize her within her first 16 weeks. I would highly recommend Heinz!!

Heinz was absolutely amazing with my dog, Havoc. I could only take him out twice a day for walks. Really early and really late when nobody else was outside. Now we walk all the time. Heinz very much trained me along with Havoc. No more time on crutches for me because my pup was having a bad day. Now we have both gained confidence in ourselves and each other which has only strengthened the bond with me and my Havoc. Thank you Heinz for taking away our fears.

About the Trainer
Wag an’ Train is a dog training business owned and operated by Heinz Lauer, a professional dog trainer with over a decade of experience. They offer private, in-home dog training, board & train programs, dog daycare, and pet boarding services, all centered around positive reinforcement methods. Heinz specializes in teaching humans how to communicate effectively with their dogs, making training accessible and successful for owners of all experience levels. The business serves dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes, addressing common behavioral issues like chewing, barking, separation anxiety, leash pulling, and potty training. Their facility, Dog-BnB, provides a home-like boarding and daycare environment with a 4000 sq. ft. fenced outdoor run, climate-controlled indoor space, and personalized care for a maximum of three dogs at a time. Heinz is also actively involved with Pets for Vets, TADSAW, and C.A.R.E., demonstrating his commitment to helping rescue dogs and veterans.
Wag an’ Train’s unique advantage lies in its focus on human education—training owners to understand canine behavior—ensuring long-term success beyond the training sessions. All programs are tailored to individual needs, and Heinz’s background includes formal education from reputable institutions like Duke University, Leerburg, and Dunbar Academy, as well as participation in Karen Pryor’s ClickerExpo.
Clients consistently praise Heinz for his patience, professionalism, and ability to work with sensitive or challenging dogs, especially those from rescue backgrounds. His methods are gentle, science-based, and effective for families seeking a stronger bond with their pets.
