Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
Private Dog Training sessions are 1 hour long, with options for shorter or longer durations. These sessions can be conducted in the client’s home, neighborhood, or a local park, focusing on specific goals for one or multiple pets. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, monthly, or as best fits the client’s goals and schedule.
Loose-Leash Walking sessions are approximately 45 minutes long, often held at North Pond, but can be arranged at other locations. The trainer’s dogs can accompany these walks to help build social skills or for distraction practice.
Boarding with Training involves dogs staying in the trainer’s home in Lakeview, Chicago. Dogs receive off-leash playtime in an enclosed yard and are provided with a comfy bed. Daily photos are sent, and training videos and updates are available upon request. The service can accommodate one dog at a time, or two from the same home, and is suitable for energetic dogs, senior dogs, and those with special needs.
Boarding with Intensive Training includes all standard boarding care plus additional time for personalized training. This option addresses specific goals such as crate/separation training, potty training, socialization training (for dogs inexperienced with other dogs, or showing fearfulness, aggression, resource guarding, lack of confidence), reactivity training (for dogs that lunge or bark intensely towards triggers), and puppy training.

About the Trainer
Walk-the-Dog Training helps owners and their dogs have an easier time both at home and out in the world. They assist with common struggles such as lunging on walks, chewing, barking, whining, fearfulness, anxiety, or aggression.
The business focuses on personalized, professional coaching to help clients reach their training goals. They believe the most effective way to conquer behavioral issues is to discover the root of the problem, which is difficult in large group classes.
They offer 1-on-1 coaching sessions to investigate specific issues, working in a focused and creative way that best suits training goals. Sessions can take place in the client’s home, neighborhood, or a local park, focusing on one or many topics, and can involve one or multiple pets.
Walk the Dog Training aims to give owners the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to live the best life possible with their pet. Every training plan and boarding stay comes with a quality guarantee, ensuring animals feel safe, physically and mentally fulfilled, and owners feel respected and supported.
