Testimonials
Last Friday, my wife and I were thrilled to welcome our 18-month-old lab, Birdie, home from “school” with Chad at Walker Retriever Complex. Importantly, Chad caters to all breeds and offers both basic obedience and gun dog training curriculum. This is important because EVERYTHING starts with obedience. Birdie has been a good dog since she was a small puppy but the change in her level of attention and obedience is amazing. No pulling on the leash, she pays attention to us instead of every random object in her path and is just a different dog when she is “clocked in”. I used that term purposefully, because it was important to us that Birdie NOT lose her joy and enthusiasm for being a dog, and be able to “clock in” when it is time to work. Perhaps most importantly, Chad not only trained Birdie, but also trained ME to work with her, to understand how dogs understand their jobs and process commands. In short, Chad will set both you and your dog up for success. Our first duck season together starts in just a few days, and I could not be more excited to continue to work with, and learn from, my dog. Chad even checked in after Birdie’s first weekend home to see how she was doing and remains “on call” for any questions or issues I may have. THANK YOU to Chad for all his hard work with our girl, for training me to be a part of her team, and for the ongoing support! If you have a dog that you love and want to form a lifelong partnership and understanding with, you simply will not find a better trainer than Chad. Highly recommended!

We recently had our almost one year old doodle mix trained by Chad at Walker Retriever Complex, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Before training, we struggled to do the things we wanted with her. We had a hard time getting her to behaving when doing things like going on walks or meeting new people. After working with Chad, Lucy has become a well-behaved, confident dog, and the transition home has been exciting and fun as we continue working with her.
Chad has also been very helpful with the transition home. He’s always available to answer our questions. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional trainer who really cares.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Chad. He trained our 8-month-old Goldendoodle, Archie. Y’all, this dog was WILD. Jumping, chewing, running away, digging, barking… all the things, all the time. He is very sweet and fun, but he was so unruly that it was becoming untenable for our household.
Chad has given Archie the tools to be part of our family without disrupting our home. He comes when called, walks at heel, and– most importantly for us– stops an unwanted behavior when told “no.” He is such a good boy now that he knows what is expected of him. We would NEVER have been able to achieve this without Chad’s expertise.
Chad is very easy to work with, very communicative, and very responsive to questions and concerns. He wants you and your dog to succeed. He is worth the time, worth the waitlist, worth the cost, and we would recommend him to anyone anytime. Thank you, Chad!!

About the Trainer
Walker Retriever Complex is a family-owned dog training business founded by Chad and Marcia Walker in 2015. They specialize in obedience training and advanced gun dog training for retrievers and other breeds, with a focus on creating well-rounded, confident dogs that thrive in both work and home environments. Their training programs are customized for each dog and family, emphasizing patience, understanding, and building a strong partnership between owner and pet. Chad personally trains each dog and also educates owners on how to maintain and reinforce training at home, ensuring long-term success. They offer board-and-train services and provide ongoing support after training completion. Their approach ensures dogs retain their joy and enthusiasm while becoming obedient and reliable companions.
They train all breeds, including Labs, Goldendoodles, Bernedoodles, and other sporting and mixed breeds, and prioritize recall, leash walking, impulse control, and behavior correction. Clients consistently report dramatic improvements in their dogs’ behavior, with many noting their dogs now walk calmly on leash, respond reliably to commands, and behave appropriately in public settings. Chad remains available for follow-up questions and check-ins after training ends.
Accomplishments
Since 2015, Walker Retriever Complex has successfully trained numerous companion and champion retrievers, with many clients reporting transformative results in their dogs’ behavior and performance.
