Testimonials

I was incredibly happy to find Water Dog Spa. Katy definitely has the magic touch. My dog, Ivy, is 10 and has had some joint pains but since starting the sessions with Katy I have noticed a significant improvement in how Ivy moves around. Katy is fantastic with my dog and great to talk to during the session.

Waterdog Spa is amazing. An unbelievable first time experience for Fangio, while healing from TPLO surgery. He’s a big boy, nervous & boisterous. Katie has the magic touch… patient, kind, wise, strong; a highly trained massage therapist with a unique healing environment. I came home inspired to be a better & more confident pup parent.

About the Trainer

Water Dog Spa is a hydrotherapy facility in Seattle that provides customized swimming sessions for dogs of all ages, sizes, and conditions. Their services are designed to improve mobility, build muscle, manage weight, and aid in rehabilitation for dogs recovering from injury, surgery, or dealing with chronic conditions like arthritis, hip dysplasia, or degenerative myelopathy. The facility features a warm, jetted pool maintained with bromine for safety and comfort, with water temperatures between 85–92°F to enhance circulation and reduce joint stress. Each dog receives an individualized swim plan developed after an initial evaluation that includes gait assessment, muscle palpation, and a calm introduction to the water. Trainers monitor movement during sessions and adjust resistance using jet settings to optimize the workout. The team includes Katie, a Nationally Board Certified Small Animal Massage Practitioner with over 8 years of hydrotherapy experience since 2016, and Eric and Morgana, who assist on weekends. The facility also offers a self-service dog wash after sessions. While not a traditional obedience trainer, Water Dog Spa provides therapeutic physical conditioning that supports behavior, mobility, and overall well-being through low-impact, full-body exercise.

They welcome puppies, seniors, anxious dogs, and dogs with disabilities—including blind or neurologically impaired dogs—and tailor sessions to reduce fear and build confidence in the water. Their approach combines hydrotherapy with gentle stretching, reflex work, and cold laser therapy to reduce pain and inflammation. All services are conducted in a private, peaceful setting to ensure comfort and safety.

Water Dog Spa is not a group class or obedience training provider, but their therapeutic swimming program is often used in conjunction with veterinary care and can support behavior modification by reducing pain-related reactivity and increasing energy expenditure for high-energy or overweight dogs.

Accomplishments

Katie, the owner and primary hydrotherapist, is a Nationally Board Certified Small Animal Massage Practitioner with training from the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Accupressure and Massage. She has been providing hydrotherapy in Seattle since 2016, helping dogs recover from injury, manage chronic conditions, and improve mobility and quality of life.
