About the Trainer
West Plains Canine School, solely owned and operated by Barbara Gordon, has been training dogs since 1993. The school aims to educate dog owners on how to raise and train well-behaved family companions and good canine citizens through private instruction.
For those interested in competitive dog sports, West Plains Canine School offers comprehensive education in Competitive Obedience, with step-by-step individual instruction across all levels of Rally and Obedience. They assist with training new puppies, refining skills in current dogs, and resolving troublesome behaviors.
Barb employs a balanced training approach, which is neither too gentle nor too harsh, emphasizing that dogs, like children, need to understand rules, limits, and boundaries to become good canine citizens. She believes that a clear understanding of rules and meaningful consequences is the kindest path for dogs. Her philosophy for Competitive Obedience involves teaching, insisting, and then testing for consistent results.
