The program teaches basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, come, down, go lie down, drop it, leave it, and proper leash walking. It also addresses any troublesome behavioral issues. The puppy training program focuses on creating a firm foundation, teaching basic commands, name recognition, leash comfort, potty training, and addressing nipping, biting, and jumping. Testimonials

“Dianne at WhatAGoodDogLA is a fantastic trainer, and just a very interesting and fun person to talk to. She was able to teach my wife and I how to get our young Great Dane under control. She taught us how to get the dog to obey us, and various strategies to correct her behaviors that we didn’t like. She gave us many tips, strategies, and product recommendations to make living with our dog more pleasant. She has many years of experience, and it shows. She can take control of any dog and get it to obey her right away, and she will teach you to do the same. We have transformed our behavior, and the dog has made such great progress since we started working with Dianne. This is the best call you can make as a dog owner! If you’re lucky she might also give you some recommendations on a good horror movie or 2! :)”
– Tim Riley

“From her first visit, Dianne changed everything, that was causing us problems with our darling rescue puppy. We have always adopted older dogs. When we fell in love with a younger one, we knew we would need some help. After dawdling about that for some months, she was becoming more aggressive in her demands for attention and romantic times were less romantic with her licking our toes. We needed help. Dianne to the rescue. She understood exactly what was going on and how to change it. After her first visit, Princess began sleeping in her own bed, like magic. Dianne is an excellent communicator and if something isn’t working for you, she has several other ideas to get results, while you learn. Everyone is so impressed with the changes in our Princess and we sing Dianne’s praises.”
– Donald Henderson

“My daughter adopted a dog from the shelter who exhibited territorial behavior within 3 days of adoption. Dianne was responsive, listened to our concerns and was able to help both dog and new owners to establish firm commands, leash training techniques. and role establishment. That dog is now a cuddle monster! Comes when called, gets on well with other dogs and is on track to become the best loved dog ever…”

About the Trainer

What A Good Dog! LA is a dog training business led by Dianne V. Lawrence, who is passionate about honoring the natural intelligence and goodness of dogs by educating and training both them and their pet parents. The goal is to enhance lifelong relationships between dogs and their owners, making them a source of joy for both. Dianne is also a dog activist.

The business offers training for dogs of all ages and breeds, focusing on creating a strong connection where the dog not only loves but also respects its owner. Dianne’s training methods are described as effective and gentle, ensuring dogs learn quickly without stress or frustration.

Services include addressing puppy behavior, introducing new dogs to the home, and resolving issues like stubbornness, excessive barking, jumping up, leash pulling/lunging, barking at doors or on the streets, housebreaking, separation anxiety, and picking things up on walks. Dianne also instructs pet parents on leadership training, including proper attitude, tone of voice, how to be firm yet loving, and what constitutes proper care and attention.

Basic obedience commands taught include sit, stay, come, down, go lie down, drop it, leave it, and proper leash walking. For puppies, additional training covers name recognition, housebreaking, chewing, nipping, biting, and comfort with the leash. While most aggression can be addressed with basic training, Dianne does not provide serious aggression training but offers free evaluations to determine the best course of action.

Accomplishments

Dianne V. Lawrence is recognized as a dog activist. She is described by clients as a fantastic trainer with many years of experience, capable of taking control of any dog and teaching owners to do the same. One testimonial states she is “easily up there with Cesar Milan and other famous dog trainers.”

How to Get Started!

To begin, clients are encouraged to call or text directly at 323-578-3901 or send a message. A free phone evaluation is offered, during which the trainer takes time to ask questions, explain the root causes of behavioral problems, and outline how they will be addressed. This evaluation helps pet parents understand their dog’s behaviors and habits, enabling them to make an informed decision about the training program.
