Whistling Wings Kennels

Whistling Wings Kennels offers several training programs. The Obedience Course is an 8-week program where companions learn basic skills such as Sit (verbal and whistle), Recall (verbal and whistle), Heel (on-lead and off-lead), Place, Kennel, Crate training/house breaking, formalized outdoor exercise, and group work. Owner involvement is required every 2 weeks to track progression and learn skill sets.

The Outdoor Adventure Companions course includes an evaluation to set goals and offers three classes: Outdoor Adventure, Indoor Etiquette, Shed retrieval, Trailing Behaviors, and/or Service Assistance skills. The Outdoor Adventure class prepares companions for outdoor excursions, teaching them to heel while walking, jogging, biking, or riding an ATV, and to sit/stay quietly during outdoor activities or vehicle rides. The Indoor Etiquette class focuses on house breaking, place training, and crate training. Trailing behaviors include locating objects like game, sheds, downed deer, and people.

The Waterfowl Training Course is a 6-month program designed to prepare sporting dogs to run multiple marks, handle left, right, and back commands up to 125 yards, run short cold blinds and pattern blinds, respect other working dogs, and be steady to birds (flushed and shot). Dogs will have picked up 25-35 shot birds and worked out of various hunting setups. This program also includes extensive obedience for home and field.

The Upland Bird Training is also a 6-month course where sporting dogs learn to pick multiple marks, be steady to wing & shot, and quarter under control to flush game within gun range. They will also run short cold blinds in and out of their quartering pattern and be exposed to multiple game birds. This course also provides extensive obedience for both home and hunt.

For all training programs, owner involvement is encouraged, with recommendations for visits at least once every 3 weeks or 3 visits during the duration of the dog’s stay, each visit being about a day and a half of instruction.

Pricing Summary

Daily Boarding Rates: Daily Rate: $35.00. Each Additional Dog Daily Rate: $10.00. Any additional walks or tune-ups of previous training can be done at an additional cost.
