Wilde Acres provides comprehensive dog training through several program formats. Their core offerings are “Board and Train Retreats,” where dogs live on-site for immersive training. Puppy Training Retreats (for dogs under 6 months) focus on manners, socialization, potty training, and basic commands, with an option for advanced off-leash training at 7-9 months. Adult Dog Training Retreats (for dogs over 6 months) cover on-leash obedience, nuisance behaviors, and off-leash recall, with longer stays recommended for advanced skills.
Specialized board and train programs include Bird Dog Training for hunting and competitive gun dogs, focusing on field work, gunfire desensitization, and specific commands like “Whoa” and “Fetch.” Behavior Modification programs address issues like aggression, extreme anxiety, and fear, with customized lengths of stay. Service Dog Training offers tailored programs for service or therapy dogs, covering public access manners, mobility assistance, and crisis response.
For owners who prefer not to leave their dogs overnight, Dog Day Training provides 8 full-day sessions over 4 consecutive weeks, focusing on obedience and behavioral issues. Private Dog Training offers one-on-one lessons for customized goals, including obedience, manners, and behavior modification. Group Dog Training Classes are available for puppies and older dogs, covering basic obedience and specific skills like e-collar recall. Most programs include follow-up “Handler Classes” to ensure owners can maintain their dog’s learned behaviors.

Testimonials
“Carter and all of the people at Wilde Acres are super dedicated and genuinely love dogs and helping owners make a better life with their dogs. They trained my super reactive adult dog and I can now take her anywhere with confidence. A life changer- I enjoy this beautiful dog now and she is so happy. I also have completed the puppy training program and have a well-behaved and happy Lab that I can take anywhere. We board with confidence and my dogs go nuts as we approach the facility. Everything about the people and the facility and the methods they use will make you and your dog happy. Thank you Wilde Acres!!!”

“Deciding to enroll Cash in a board and train was our last ditch effort to keep him part of our family. It’s now been one week since we brought Cash home and I’m speechless with the change in him. He walks beautifully now and is much easier to redirect in behaviors now. People can come to the house without being happily slammed into by a 70lb ball of excitement. We still have a lot of work to do to ingrain and advance these positive changes, but I now know it’s possible. Thanks to Alexis, Carter, and everyone at Wilde Acres, Cash is able to stay with our family where he belongs.”

“We took Chief to a number of trainers, spent way too much money and was even referred to a dog behavioral specialist by one of our previous trainers because they were convinced something was wrong with our dog. We eventually just had to change our lifestyle to accommodate the dynamic Chief brought into the family. After 1 session with Carter, we saw a complete change in Chief’s behavior. Before meeting Carter it was miserable taking Chief on a walk, he had horrible leash aggression, constantly pulled and always barked at other dogs. After multiple sessions it was like we had a completely different dog. We had hope that we could go back to doing the things we loved, with our dogs! Fast forward to today. We now go camping, hiking, running, and anything else you can imagine because of the tools Carter gave us. We cannot recommend Carter highly enough, he truly changed our life!”
