About the Trainer
Wildwood Dog Training Club is a community-based dog training organization offering structured group classes for puppies, beginners, and advanced dogs in Naperville and Villa Park, Illinois. They provide a 10-week puppy class for dogs 2–6 months old, focusing on socialization, housebreaking, mouthing, and basic commands using gentle, positive reinforcement methods. Beginner classes for dogs over 6 months old teach foundational obedience including sit, stay, down, heel, and recall over 12 weeks. Advanced training includes Canine Good Citizenship, Therapy Dog, and AKC Competitive Obedience (Novice, Open, Utility, Rally). All classes are held at the Villa Park Masonic Lodge, and registration is first-come, first-served. The club emphasizes positive, reward-based training and requires specific vaccinations for all dogs. They welcome observers before registering and offer evaluations for dogs with shyness or aggression issues. The organization also hosts club events and quarterly class cycles with breaks for holidays and board meetings.
They do not offer private, in-home, board-and-train, or day training services. Their training is exclusively group-based at their facility. Health forms and vaccination records are mandatory before attending class. Registration can be completed online via credit card or PayPal, or by mailing a printed form with a check.
The club does not list individual trainer profiles or credentials on their website, and the “Trainers” page currently displays “Coming Soon.” They do not offer dog grooming, boarding, walking, daycare, or pet supply services beyond training.
The club has been operating since at least 2022 and follows a structured quarterly calendar with classes beginning in January, March, June, and September.
Their FAQ confirms they use positive reinforcement exclusively and do not endorse aversive methods. They accommodate dogs with behavioral concerns on a case-by-case basis, but exclude extremely aggressive dogs for safety reasons.
