Your Best Dog Yet offers tailored Private Lessons (1-hour or 5-hour packages) conducted in the client’s home or a local park, working at the pet’s speed. The In-Board Training Program provides a consistent, immersive experience where pets stay at the trainer’s home, focusing on behaviors like leash manners, stays in various environments, recall, and impulse control, with “go home lessons” for the family.
Group courses are structured in a progressive 6-week series: “FOUNDATION” (Beginner, simple behaviors, positive basis), “SETTING THE GOAL” (Novice, finalizing foundation and adding new behaviors), and “GOLDEN CHILD” (Advanced, preparing for Canine Good Citizen test and public access). A “TRICK DOG” bonus course is also available.

Pricing Summary
Private lessons are offered as 1-hour or 5-hour packages. Grooming services range from $5 for nail trims/anal glands/ear cleaning to $30 for a bath package, $45 for a trim package, and $50-$70 for full summer cuts depending on dog weight. The In-Board program includes perks like a Free Birthday Bath for life, 50% off Beginner Group Classes, 15% off private lessons, and discounted grooming and boarding.

She gave us daily videos on the training and updates on how our dog was doing. “We brought our new Labrador puppy, Luna home at 7 weeks old. She was this incredibly cute, feisty little sweetheart UNTIL the puppy nipping started and would not let up. After a month of trying everything we could think of to stop the behavior, we were feeling defeated by this adorable little shark-dog. Jessica Johnston, owner of Your Best Dog Yet L.L.C., is a passionate dog trainer and behavioral specialist dedicated to strengthening the bond between pets and their humans. She has been working with dogs of all breeds since 2005 and relocated to Yuma in 2020 to share her expertise.
Your Best Dog Yet offers a variety of services including tailored private lessons, comprehensive in-board training programs, and structured group classes (Foundation, Setting the Goal, Golden Child, Trick Dog). The goal is to achieve obedience reliability for everyday dog owners in the real world, focusing on fun and effective training to build teamwork and thriving relationships.
Beyond training, the business also provides grooming services such as baths, trims, nail care, and anal gland expression, as well as pet boarding in a home environment designed to minimize stress. Jessica believes every dog has a purpose and specializes in helping dogs that struggle to live in a human world.
Accomplishments
Jessica Johnston has been working with dogs since 2005 and has participated in canine athletics in California, Nevada, and Arizona. She received her Certification as an Animal Behaviorist from Animal Behavior College in 2015 and her Veterinary Assistant Certification in 2016. She owns four dogs: a Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Border Collie, and a Newfoundland.
