Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Zen Dog Training offers several programs:
In Home Lessons: This 9-week program includes five in-person lessons and four video lessons. It covers basic to advanced off-leash training, including off-leash obedience, on-leash manners, calm behavior around guests, off-leash heeling, advanced sit and stay, and developmental training games. Equipment for one dog is included, with an additional charge for multiple dogs. The program includes a guarantee, prorated credit towards boarding if needed, and a “Training For Life Guarantee” for lifetime follow-up lessons and free group sessions.
Boarding Programs: This 4-week immersive program has the dog live in the trainer’s home and integrate with their pack. It covers the same advanced off-leash training as the in-home program, with the trainers doing the intensive work upfront. Owners are required to visit and learn alongside their dog. It includes a “train the second dog in the home for free” option and equipment for one dog. The program offers a guarantee, free rebooking for 30 days post-boarding if struggles arise, and a “Training For Life Guarantee” for lifetime follow-up lessons and free group sessions.
Service Dog Programs: This is primarily an owner-led training program where the dog lives with the owner. It focuses on ADA-required task training and rigorous public access training. Dogs must be at least 30 lbs at maturity, have a calm temperament, and be willing to perform tasks. The program typically lasts six to eighteen months, with no time limits, and includes ongoing support for the life of the dog. All equipment and a vest are included, and certification is provided upon completion. Boarding is available at a discounted rate for service dog clients.
Puppy Raising: This option is popular for breeders or service dog clients. The pup is raised for the first year, returning as a well-mannered adolescent, often ready for AKC Obedience companion dog titles.
