Testimonials

“We recently worked with Emily for our dog, Lucas. Prior to working with Emily, we felt his poor behaviors were going to continue indefinitely. After just one session with her, we felt confident enough to start the process of re-learning….”
– Emily Fleming

“Julie was great sharing immense and valuable knowledge and the recommendation in the treats. We took your advice today with Pluto — he was awesome afterwards! He has also stopped jumping, it’s amazing how fast he is responding. Abby is…”
– Julie Mendelsohn

“Gordon is an absolute gem! He is so knowledgeable but down to earth; he really took a lot of our stress away over our two sessions. He is a breath of fresh air from some of the more elitist dog…”

About the Trainer

Zen Dog Training offers in-home training, group puppy classes, and online solutions based on positive reinforcement and balanced methods. Their approach is designed to improve dog behavior quickly and easily, without punishments or corrections, working on dogs of all ages and breeds. They focus on teaching owners to communicate with their dogs through mutual understanding, using techniques like controlling outcomes, rewarding good behaviors, and fear-free interruptions.

The business emphasizes a “Zen Dog Way” philosophy, which centers on the owner’s understanding of their dog’s perspective and communication style. Their methods are described as Fear-Free, Force-Free, and Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA), incorporating positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, games, solutions, and gentle interruptions. They aim to make training less stressful and more effective by integrating it into daily routines rather than relying on traditional homework assignments.

Zen Dog Training provides customized training plans tailored to each dog’s breed, age, attitude, and temperament, as well as the owner’s objectives and lifestyle. They claim to achieve significant improvements in two to three visits, getting more done in two hours than other trainers do in two weeks. They also offer resources like training articles, eBooks, and a free puppy eCourse.

Specialized training is available for shy/fearful dogs, separation anxiety, agility, therapy dog preparation, and off-leash obedience. Their online platform includes over 100 training videos, downloadable plans, guides, and comics, with lifetime access for clients. They also sell eBooks on puppy raising, separation anxiety, and crate training.
