Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Breakaway Action Dogs offers classes, run thrus, trials, and seminars. Classes are generally one hour long and run weekly according to a session schedule. For new students, it is recommended to start with Puppy Obedience or Manners Obedience to build a strong foundation. Dogs and handlers who have previously trained elsewhere require an evaluation by the training director before being placed in a class.

Classes are limited to a maximum of 6-8 students and a minimum of 4 students. Registration and full payment are required before the first night of class. The training director reserves the right to cancel or move registrations to another class, and classes with fewer than four students may be canceled. Run thrus and open ring time are held several times a year, offering a trial-like training environment. Trials are offered in agility, rally, obedience, and scent work. Seminars provide detailed discussions and demonstrations.

About the Trainer

Breakaway Action Dogs, Inc. (B.A.D., Inc.) is a club of dedicated volunteers promoting dog training in canine sports. They aim to disseminate expert knowledge on dog training, conduct classes for dogs and handlers, and hold and support canine sports, shows, trials, and matches. The club also promotes cooperation and good sportsmanship among its members.

Their instructors have many years of experience and offer a positive training approach in their classes. They provide a variety of classes to assist and broaden handler skills, focusing on building a trusting relationship between dogs and their owners.

B.A.D. offers run thrus and open ring time at their training facility, providing opportunities to train dogs in a trial-like setting. They also host trials in agility, rally, obedience, and scent work throughout the year, both at their facility and offsite locations. Seminars are held a few times a year, offering detailed discussions, demonstrations, and focused training.

The training facilities consist of two indoor buildings located next to one another. Classes are held in both buildings during Fall, Winter, and Spring, and in Building #2 during the Summer. Trials may be held in one or both buildings, with Building #1 often used for trial rings and Building #2 for indoor crating. Members enjoy an active community, class discounts, and special access to the training building and equipment for private training time.
