Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • ✓ Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • ✓ E-Collars

Private lessons and packages (three, four, five, or six sessions) cover basic obedience and manners in the client’s home. In-home behavior modification, also sold as single sessions or packages up to six, works one on one with dogs on fear, aggression, and hyperactivity.

Board-and-train options include 2, 3, and 4 week programs teaching sit, down, stay, place, loose leash walking, and house manners, with longer programs adding public-place desensitization. A separate board-and-train behavior modification program runs 30 to 45 days and is built around each dog’s specific triggers, such as resource guarding or leash and fence reactivity.

Group obedience classes run in three stages, basic, intermediate, and advanced, with the advanced class held in public businesses and aimed at AKC Canine Good Citizen preparation. Additional offerings include a dog play workshop, a defensive dog handling class, a customer care workshop, a 5-week e-collar 101 course, and hourly kennel consulting on staff training, nutrition, and kennel placement.

About the Trainer

Good Dog Ink9 provides in-home private lessons, behavior modification, and board-and-train programs for dog owners in Yucaipa, California. The business is run by Nathan Ramirez, who also does nationwide consulting for complex canine cases through the company Krazy K9 LLC.

Nathan started training dogs in 2013 and has worked with police department K-9 teams at Vohne Liche Kennels and consulted with Adlerhorst International K9 Academy on curriculum tied to POST standards for K-9 handlers. He also trains service and medical support dogs, including PTSD mitigation, therapy, and medical alert dogs for conditions such as diabetes and seizures, and contracts with Guide Dogs of the Desert as a support K9 trainer.

For pet owners, Good Dog Ink9 runs a series of group obedience classes that move from basic commands through intermediate work with distractions and advanced work in public places like breweries and restaurants, preparing dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Workshops cover dog play groups, defensive handling for dog fights, and a 5-week e-collar 101 course.

One-on-one behavior modification sessions target fear, aggression, hyperactivity, resource guarding, and leash or fence reactivity, and can be booked as single sessions or in packages. A board-and-train behavior modification program takes 30 to 45 days for dogs with more serious aggression or fear issues, while shorter 2, 3, and 4 week board-and-train programs cover basic obedience, house manners, and public-place desensitization.
