K9 Mania has trained dogs for more than 4,000 Long Island families. We are balanced trainers with full-time trainers on site every day.

Our flagship program is board and train, which includes all training equipment, a midway session, a go-home session, and a follow-up session with the owner, plus online courses and free group classes after graduation. We also offer private training, behavior-specific training, puppy training (including puppy board and train for 4-6-month-olds), and boarding.

We serve Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx.

What New Clients Can Expect

Every client starts with a free, hour-long evaluation at our Deer Park facility. It is not in-home. The dog mostly does what it normally does while we watch how it handles a new place, new people, other dogs, the leash, and distractions. The owner talks us through the problems at home, like pulling, jumping, barking, reactivity, or aggression. The trainer explains what is causing those behaviors and lays out which program fits that dog. Owners are welcome to see the facility where their dog would train and board. There is no obligation to sign up.

Homework. Our programs come with an online course, and owners go through that week’s module before each session. People expect the dog to be the only one in training. They’re surprised that the owner is in it too, because the results only last if the owner knows how to keep them going at home.

We don’t do service dog training. Families looking for a certified service dog are best served by a dedicated service dog organization, so we point them in that direction. Outside of that, we work with a wide range of dogs, from young puppies to adult dogs with serious obedience and behavior problems, and every dog starts with a free evaluation so we can confirm the right program before anything is booked.

Long Island winters cut down on outdoor exercise, so a lot of dogs come in with pent-up energy that turns into jumping, chewing, and pulling. Many owners also commute to the city or work long hours, which leaves dogs alone and bored for much of the day. Busy streets, crowded parks, and beach towns in summer mean dogs need solid leash manners and focus around distractions. Plenty of families also live close to neighbors, so barking and reactivity on walks become real problems quickly.
