Pet Camp

The Beginner’s Dock Diving Course runs 6 weeks with a maximum of 6 students and requires a dog that loves playing with toys. The Beginner’s Dog Agility Course also runs 6 weeks and introduces handlers and dogs to the foundations of agility.

Ongoing dog agility and ongoing dock diving practice sessions are available to students who have already completed the beginner course, held on a weekly recurring basis.

Pet Camp is developing Ancient City Dog Club (ACDC), a membership program giving patrons access to a 50 foot pool with a competition dock, regulation agility equipment and field, an astro-turfed playground, and fenced play yards.

Pricing Summary

The Beginner’s Dock Diving Course and Beginner’s Dog Agility Course are each $265 for the 6 week session. Ongoing dog agility for previously enrolled students is $119 per month. Planned ACDC membership will be $250 per month for unlimited use of the pool, training field, and playground, except on Mondays for pool maintenance and during occasional events or classes.

Pet Camp has served Saint Johns County families since 1998 from a 5 acre property just outside downtown Saint Augustine. The business recently closed its boarding and daycare operations and now focuses on a limited slate of dog sport classes, including agility and dock diving.

Classes run as 6 week beginner courses with small group sizes, plus ongoing sessions for students who have already completed the beginner course. Dog agility beginner classes are taught by competitor Debbie, and dock diving beginner classes require a dog that enjoys playing with toys.

Head trainer and founder Silke has trained dogs most of her life and built Pet Camp from the ground up after moving to Saint Augustine from Germany. She has competed and placed in national and international dog sport events, including agility, dock diving, and disc competitions, and formed a local K-9 search and rescue team in the early 2000s. Her approach to training is described as positive and up-beat.

Pet Camp is not currently accepting new private obedience training students, as the business is operating at capacity. It is also developing a members-only dog sport club called Ancient City Dog Club (ACDC), which will offer access to a dock diving pool, agility field, and play yards once membership opens.

Accomplishments

Pet Camp has operated in Saint Johns County since 1998. Founder Silke formed and led a local K-9 search and rescue team in the early 2000s, placed 3rd in the 2001 Northern German Dog Sporting Championships, qualified for and ran at the 2006 USDAA Agility National Championships, placed 2nd at the 2014 Skyhoundz Florida State Championships, and placed 7th in the 2019 Skyhoundz Frisbee World Championship Pairs Division. Her dog Saga has earned multiple performance titles and national rankings in rally obedience, agility, and dock diving.
