Professional K9 services cover scent detection training in bio, narcotics, explosive, contraband, and search and rescue work, including K9 team selection, obedience and fitness conditioning, and handler workshops that troubleshoot performance issues and build search scenarios.

Sport K9 offerings are built around K9 Nosework, with Introduction, Continuing, and Advanced classes that take handlers and dogs from basic target odor searches through competition-level strategy and trial preparation. Seminars, workshops, and private or semi-private coaching are also available, along with access to a NACSW trial judge for Nosework events.

Performance K9 services focus on canine fitness, offered as a small group class covering general fitness techniques or as a private appointment for a workout plan built around an individual dog’s needs, with fitness workshops available for groups.

About the Trainer

Rock Solid K9 is run by Nicole Reusser out of Laguna Hills, California, and covers three areas of dog training: professional scent detection work, sport K9 Nosework, and canine fitness. The business works with both working dog teams and everyday pet owners who want a fun, mentally challenging activity for their dogs.

On the professional side, Rock Solid K9 helps agencies and handlers select, train, and maintain scent detection K9 teams across bio, narcotics, explosive, contraband, and search and rescue detection. Dogs selected for this program are evaluated for drive, temperament, and health, then spend training weeks in a home environment to get used to household noises before working in varied real-world locations. Handler workshops cover team evaluation, troubleshooting, and one-on-one coaching in the handler’s own working environment.

For pet owners and sport competitors, Rock Solid K9 teaches K9 Nosework classes from introductory through advanced levels. Dogs start by searching for their favorite food or toy and move on to target odors such as birch, anise, and clove, while handlers learn about airflow, search strategy, and competition rules. The classes are open to any breed, size, or age, and are built for dogs ranging from shy or retired working dogs to active sport dogs and couch potatoes looking for a job to do.

The performance side of the business focuses on K9 fitness, with a CCFT certified trainer offering small group classes and private, dog-specific workout plans aimed at endurance, weight management, injury prevention, and recovery for working and sport dogs. Fitness workshops are also available for groups on request.

Nicole Reusser has trained scent detection canines for well over 15 years and is a NACSW certified K9 Nosework instructor and NACSW trial judge, and has coached teams nationwide through classes, workshops, and private lessons.
