Dog Training Methodology

Equipment:

  • Obstacle Courses

WAG, Inc. offers five seven-week sessions of dog agility classes annually, with a winter break from mid-November to February. Classes are structured for various levels: Pre-Agility Beginner 1, 2 & 3, Intermediate, and Advanced. Pre-agility classes, held Monday evenings at 6 PM, focus on basic agility skill building and equipment introduction. Dogs must be at least 1 year old and possess good obedience skills and socialization to enroll in pre-agility.

Group classes are held in the evenings, Monday through Thursday, for one hour each week. Semi-private or private classes may be available by appointment during the daytime. Drop-in classes are also offered for intermediate and advanced level dogs, subject to instructor permission. For those unsure of their dog’s appropriate class level, WAG, Inc. provides evaluations to assist with placement.

Accomplishments

The WAG team has been recognized as the top fundraising team for the Morris Animal Foundation K9 Cancer walk for a number of years.

How to Get Started!

To begin, interested individuals should contact Justine, the training coordinator, via email or by filling out the contact form on the website. This is necessary to inquire about class availability or to be added to the waiting list. There is a significant waiting list for the pre-agility class, which currently takes approximately one year to get into the program. New students must obtain a specific enrollment link from the training coordinator. When contacting, it is helpful to include details about your interests and your dog’s current training level, specifying if you wish to join the pre-agility waiting list or be evaluated for a higher level if you have prior agility training.
